I wonder if the same is true of JB?
Based on the two gigs I went to there were a lot more young folks in the audience than a typical blues rock gig ( this maybe partly as a result of the type of venue). Last time I went with my brother in law who isn't a muso or music obsessive and wouldn't know who Aynsley Lister was if he slapped him in the face but does know who JB is and enjoyed himself ( and, againm, playing a much more varied and balanced set than the folks on here who don't know his stuff well would seem to believe).

JB has become a fairly commercially succesful/ mainstream artist and, I think typically, as a main stream artist gets criticised for being too mainstream and not ' the real thing.' I'm sure he cries into his big pile of money about this at night...

For what it's worth, and I kid you not, Sid Little was at the JB gig I went to in Brum.

Not sure what that says about his music but still....

I saw a little of him at High Voltage a while back and found him very dull. Great guitarist but not one I'd ever want to listen to.

Can't comment on pub gigs as I have no knowledge of such things. I really ought to learn some other people's songs at some point.
AH! I found the edit sig function. Hurrah!!

Sounds like Gary Moore to me... *Runs for cover*

There are a load of other players, IMO, who blow Bonamassa away and they don't get half the endorsement deals he does. eg. Michael Landau, Pete Thorn, Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks, Michael Thompson, Paul Jackson Jr......

But this has been true of music since the 60s?
