I think Govt Mule play a similar style as Joe B, only much better

I actually like BCC more than I feel I ought to. Hughes is a complete knob, but watching their DVD he comes across as a great frontman, really charismatic. Twat.
Joe's a nice enough guy, but he suffers from letting Kevin Shirley have him make too many albums too quickly.
If he really believes in each album he records, why so keen to move onto the next one? It's almost an implicit admission that quantity is winning over quality.

Most recent album is very good though, so shows what I know...

... what I said still stands.

I have the same level of disdain for the average white-man's-blues player and their respective punters, which is to say I'm more indifferent than anything (this comment does not need a snarky footnote for emphasis or condescension)

Oh come on! The guys loves making music. If any of us could do what he can - write songs, sing them and play the guitar - and get paid for it we would.

He just loves to make music and so that's what he does. Why the hatred? Jealousy!

What should he do then? Take a holiday? You only take a holiday when you do a job you don't like and you want a break form it. If Joe takes a holiday it's a busmans holiday and he plays on someone else's project simply because he loves to play.

That isn't wrong you know. I play the guitar and sing for fun, and I do it every day, and so does he, but he's better at it than me, so when he does it people buy the records or go to see him. Fair enough. The boy is talented, and loves his job.

He's the new Clapton. If that's not reason enough to hate him, I don't know what is.

There's plenty of folks on here who do just that - as I have in the past.

My songs are better than his though

No he isn't - if he were, that would give me a reason to like him

    ^ This ^

And if I could play like him, I don't think I'd care about what a few MR forum-ites thought about it.
