True, but it seems to be the general consensus that most people don't particularly like him, including myself. It's interesting since the guy can actually play.

No, it's just a vocal minority. Most people like him but it's the haters who are noisy. That's all.

That's just silly, if the people in this thread hated Bonamassa because they were jealous they would also hate all other successful guitarists.

I don't hate him, I just find him deathly dull.

So people are supposed to like his music because he enjoys playing guitar? How ridiculous. I think his stuff is pretty boring and I don't care how good he supposedly is, if he enjoys what he does or if he gets paid for it.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse. I think that JB played his guitar and sang his music, and didn’t ask for anyone to like him. People just did. They liked the music he played on his guitar and the songs he wrote and sang.

I don’t expect you to like him because he enjoys playing his guitar. I don’t expect you to like him at all, and he enjoys playing his guitar regardless of how you view him.

I don’t like the music that shredders and metal players - shall we say Vai++ - produce, but plenty do and more power to their elbow. That’s music. But I’m sure the players themselves are very nice people.

I just don’t get why some feel the need to get personal about people like JB. The guy does what he does because he enjoys it and brings pleasure to quite literally millions of people around the world, and some people feel the need to hate him. Not just his music, but the man.

I stand by what I said earlier, noise and jealousy of success are dominating this thread. We could all start hate threads, but that wouldn’t be very nice would it.

I can understand someone saying they don’t like a particular genre of music, or even of how a specific guitarist interprets that genre, and I could also understand it if the guitarist is personally unpleasant, but beyond that I don’t see anything else to get uptight about unless it is jealousy.

Calm down lad! I started this thread by saying that I am getting a little bored with JB and BCC as he/ they are all over Planet Rock and the music press. I like his playing and have all his stuff but ..... and this is a big but, I now feel that most of his albums sound the same. It is the same with shredders like Vai and Malmsteen for me - initially I was all exited with the new hotshot but after a while I got sick of it. I can listen to all these but have to mix it up with other stuff.

So, Deano mate - lighten up. I don't see any hate here - just others' opinions. How can we be jealous of JB - it's silly to suggest that.

Oh, the first time I heard JB talking, I laughed out loud as I thought he sounded like Kermit! Nothing personal.

    Ta lad,
    Jim

Well good for you getting bored and telling us all about it, providing a nice bandwagon for the talentless to jump on. Of course some on this thread are jealous, they are jealous of anyone with more talent and success in life than they have.

Are you telling us you have a short attention span?

Tell you what, who do you really like at the moment? Tell us so we can see if you are bored with THEM in a few weeks or so, because that will be interesting to many of us.

I don't find his albums to sound the same at all. I don't think I'm alone in that, seeing as he's selling plenty of records and putting plenty of bums on seats at concerts.

Dean: your attitude is bordering on harrassment now.

Please let it lie - understand other people have different opinions and it's not a personal attack.

Mate - how old are you? You sound like a teenager who doesn't like any kind of criticism at all. I agree with Lixarto - we are all entitled to our opinions. So grow up mate and take it on the chin.
