I can't wait for the proper investigation.

Especially as the Catholic Herald attributed his goodness to catholicism.

This time I disagree with your first - so what if it's futile, do what's right f***sake - but your second is totally congruent with the view that most people run from any hint of trouble. Just my programming no doubt - I did rather identify with Gary Cooper in High Noon

I would also add, there's the fact that you have to look after your own career and personal welfare. There's little point in ending up unemployed and not able to feed yourself or pay the rent, no matter how noble the reason was for losing/quitting your job. I acknowledge selfishness is something some people will criticise, but it's a sad fact of life, if you don't look out for yourself, nobody else will.

Perhaps this influenced his apparent penchant for young children.

    *cough* alleged *cough*

While I personally suspect there is probably truth in the acusations I'm not sure it's fair to villify someone without proof of wrong doing - or at least strong convincing evidence...

A handful of testemonies decades after the fact, after the death of the accused, amidst media furore is not sufficient in my mind to turn a some-what eccentric old man into a white-hair-cigar-smoking-devil-of-evil with wandering hands. Yet.

Yes, fair enough - I actually meant "alleged" but used the wrong word.

    Hypothetical question:
If you were successfully forging yourself a career in broadcasting/television and you inadvertently witnessed a very popular, powerful celebrity behaving inappropriately with a minor, would you whistle blow [knowing your report will likely fall on deaf ears, finish your career and you will never be able to work in broadcasting/television again] ?
