Default Its a goodnight from me, and a Hey Nonny Nonny from him

It seems my live band retirement is at a end. I iz in the trade again

Completley different to anything I've played before though, no more weddings, no more corperate dos, no more black shirts. No siree, this time its all Folky/Country shizzle. Bring on the checked shirts and pints of real ale with twigs in 'em.

Its a trio, had a jam with the other two last night, I played on the first the song, song finished, and they said "right, you're in". Happy days.

So now I shall be doing some backing singing, some lead singing, some telecastering, some acousticing, some 12 stringing, some mandolining, and some bouzouking (though first I need to learn play the mandolin and bouzouki). Couple of gigs a month for next to no money, but with no pressure, no egos, and plenty of fun. Smashin!

    Top Man..

I'm going the other way me thinks, currently learning Steely Dan numbers for a set of what will probably end up as a function band

Gone from Classic Rock/Blues into stuff with 4+ chords and the need to work out solos over chord changes.....
    I'm a pedal addict....

My year has been similar. I'm still a distortion guy at heart, but since doing The Speyside Sessions album last new year I've been invited to many folk jams and open mic nights. So I've accepted that, approaching 40, this may be the future!
Friends of ours have a smiddy in their garden - an old blacksmith's workshop - and it's been gutted out and filled with chairs, tables and a PA. They have 'Smiddy nights' every few months and you have to sing a song or two. Cue lots of booze, food, singing and craic. We don't usually get home til sunrise...

It's a lot less hassle than setting up a band and trying to find gigs!
