Default Fellow Married Apartment Dwellers..How do you incorporate Your Gear

Okay I'm being a tad facetious and tongue in cheek.

Until my wife and I purchase a house, we are sharing space in a comfortable one bed-room apt.

I have to tell ya that the Line 6 Guitar Port that I bought 6 years ago has been a saving grace, as it takes up lil space, and I can use my headphones while using it from my computer workstation..It's been a god send actually..Next, I purchased an Ikea wardrobe..(Yanno the ones with the mirrors), and converted it into a two tiered guitar Closet complete with a felt interior lining and I even built hooks on the inside to hang straps, cords, etc.I have all my guitars hanging in there, and you wouldn't know it.
On top of said cabinet, I have a Marshall 5 watt tube combo for those instances where a jam comes calling..Same with a L6 hd 500 board

So far so good, as it all blends in nicely so my wife can feel like we're not living in a music studio, and I can access my toys while keeping her happy.Often or not I'll have the headphones on jamming away, while she's watching "Real Housewives".

I also own a marshall 4X12 cabinet, and a Marshall 20 x20 tube power amp which works amazingly with the pod, but there is absolutely no way I can work the cabinet in here, so I store it at my mother in-laws, lying in wait until we get a house, or I join a band.

Here's the kicker, because I want the Hd 500 at the ready in case my wife decides to go shopping .,I was honestly entertaining the idea of building a lil board with coasters a la' those mechanics boards, velcouring the had on it, and merely slide it out from the stereo cabinet whenever she leaves..Of course i would have material on it to keep all those dust bunnies off...I suppose I can even take it a step furthur, and fetch my Marshall Half stack from my mother in laws..maybe I can disguise it as that antique armoire my wife fell in love with..Now this would take some chameleon mojo on my part, and my Marshall would hate me for dressing him up this way..

Or, I was going to buy two lil 30 watt speaker cabinets..Maybe 2 blackhearts or something..Confuse her into thinking that it was new puter speakers, and as far as the power amp, well it's rack-mount, so it shouldn't be hard to hide..Perhaps place a lamp shade or flower pot on it..haha

Anyways, any-one else going through the same dilemna when they have G.A.S?

    Your thoughts and feed back

    Cheers

See if you can find a pair of these

Just the cabs - they're vintage, but not that expensive (without the amp) because they're only 2x10"s. (They also did larger versions with 12s that are valuable for the speakers.) Be careful though, because there was also a version with elliptical radio speakers that don't sound very good.

Or even a normal 2x12" - it's amazing how much less threatening one is than a 4x12" in a flat... a 4x12" is really big, and really ugly (from a wife point of view!).

I may have to pinch this idea!!! I currently have my gear in the garage, but due to my security worries can't face storing the guitars in there...this may be the solution!

Surely the question is why would you want a 4x12 in a tiny apartment

If i'm being honest, I just shoe horn things in wherever I can, the 4x12 gets used as a table when it's not being gigged, guitars take up space on the sofa, wardrobe, hard cases stacked here there and everywhere - what makes it worse is 80% of them aint mine.

..dunno, I'm not to fussy about em when stuff's mine so it just goes anywhere it'll fit/

damn - bought an amp recently that was twice the size of my old one - what I really wanted was even bigger, but I knew the wife would complain - the new one just squeezes in at side of rattan chair in kitchen
But if I'd only thought a bit more I could've got the bigger amp, glued some Georgian cornicing on, painted it antique cream - distressed look, mind - and all would be well.
Meanwhile my guitar is in the bedroom, the bass and other guitar is in my son's room, synthesizer is deep in the loft, while daughter's electric piano seems practically invisible.

In my house the hall is full of amps an guitars so you can barely get through the door.

    It's a wonder I'm not divorced.

The jokes on him. I canceled my milk delivery, but he still keeps making deliveries!
