^ mmm Would A wife fetch a LP I wonder?

Ya the cab will have to stay at the mother in-laws for now..Even rigging it to the ceiling with pull down chains won't do the trick. The Ikea wardrobe which works because she's constantly doing herself up in front of it...In all seriousness, I actually did convert an IKEA wardrobe into a guitar closet, but the I'm just messing around with the other hair-brained ideas. As for a new wah pedal, I'm thinking of slipping it under her antique sewing machine she never uses, and tell her it's a new foot pedal I bought for it..The only danger is if she does decide to use it, then either I'll be caught or I have to take advantage and plug in while she's doing her bit.

We have a 2 bed flat- I use the second bedroom as an office/guitar storage room. Then another couple in the living room too...

I tend not to play a huge amount when she's in

I'm sure that reads all wrong somehow .

Just got a corner of the living room with a little 5 watt fender valve amp and a few pedals with one guitar. The others are stored under the bed, while gigging gear lives in the practice room storage space. It's not ideal since I miss the days of having a big amp next to my bed when i was a teenager, but it's a bit antisocial with a 5 watt amp living in an apartment anyway, nevermind a half stack!

We're in a 3 bed terrance. All was fine until we had kiddie no.2 as I lost my music room (which was the smallest of the bedrooms). So I had to move all my gear into our main bedroom.

I try (i.e. I'm told ) to keep it nice and tidy. This is how it first looked:

So it takes me ages to set things up when I get the chance to actually play at home....but within a few minutes it ends up looking like this:

If it was down to me, I would be to dump the bitch. Install wall, ceiling and floor sound insulation and turn the whole pad into a rock palace.

...But it's too late now, you're married, if you do that you'll loose the house and the guitars

So you must accept that what she says is the law.

Do you have enough space where the wardrobe is, along one wall to build a fitted wardrobe and nominate half each, put you Marshall Stack and guitars in your half and her shoes in the other. Tell her you are fed up with your guitars cluttering the place up and you'd like to build a cubby hole for them, which would double up as a wardrobe at the same time. Although you know it won't work longterm because her shoes are more important than your guitars. It's the law.

What are the people like below/above...If they live in a rock palace, could you maybe build a trapdoor and store your stuff there?

Yeah. I'd go with a purpose built wardrobe with purpose built rotisserie units or like you get with posh kichens or sliding drawers for your pedalboard and bits and bobs and a spike at the top for the wife's head.

Seriously though, you are kidding about the scheming aren't you....???? Man you are missing out. In my rock palace I have greased naked women dancing on a pole to amuse me whilst I play Demartini solos on my Marshall Stack which is turned up to eleven. and tonight I have seven Lithuanian aerobics instructors dressed in pink lycra catsuits coming around to do a routine for me whilst I practice my Randy Rhoads chops.

I think you are underestimating the role of boobies in a happy life.

    I love boobies....

    ...ohhhh, I'm so lonely...

Go with a wardrobe, it will keep the dust off too. I'd go with a triple wardrobe if space allows.

Left side: false floor, strong low false floor shelf with sliding drop down plate underneath containing your pedalboard which slides out and drops down at an angle to meet the floor so it is usuable. Rotisserie guitar rack stored on false floor. Shelf above guitars for other stuff like cables etc.

Middle: Marshall Stack - 1.88m high (Including one set castors)

Right side: False floor as high as you can get away with without arousing your spouse's suspicion, so 1.6m high in a 1.9m wardrobe should be OK. Under the false floor store your other amps etc. This leaves a 30cm high shelf for all your wife's clothes and shoes, that should be ample.

Yeah I would go with that design. If she grumbles tell her that she is lucky to have a wardrobe at all, let alone a husband who is handy and generous enough to build one specifically designed for her and tailored to her needs.

All this sort of stuff is good for avoiding opportunistic burglars as well, as out of sight..
