Default wah / fuzz on stadium arcadium?

sounds like a wah into a fuzz on loads of parts of this chilli peppers album (the mars disc in particular, though i don't know the album that well) but its got real juicyness to it and retains a distinct wah quality.

When i play wah into a fuzz it just sounds mostly like the fuzz, and when i play wah after fuzz it just sounds like a hpf being swept (pretty brutal). where does the juicy-ness come from? is it in fact a fuzz at all?

    any thoughts?!

It certainly sounds like it on She Looks To Me (for example, which is one of my favourite sounds on the whole album). That's wah into fuzz, I'm almost certain.

I'd guess he's got a buffer in between the two effects though - he's probably using some huge Bradshaw rig - which can help fix problems with wahs and fuzzes... if you've got any buffered pedal (eg Boss TU-2) you could try putting it between the two. Fuzzes often sound less good with a buffer in front when there's no wah on though, so if that's a problem you need a FoxRox retro-fit buffer (or similar) that goes in the wah on the effect side of the switch, so it's only engaged when the wah is.
