More and more as I get older, I listen to songs which are not predominantly Guitar based.
I now listen to songs without thinking about what a great/bad/tone/technique blah blah blah and listen to the song as a whole. Which enables me to think more of what could I do on guitar to add to the song. I find it a way of freeing up idea`s without worrying about whats gone before. For instance there is no way of thinking about Johnny b goode without thinking automatically of that opening riff, or those signature Chuck Berry licks.
Quite therapeutic
So on that note I have been listening to Marketa Irglova, some lovely melodies and very laid back yet, drums seem at odds with music creating a slightly unsettled feel.
