    Default Fender question

Why is it, that I never read, or hear, people whining about the weight of their Fender axe, like I do Gibson Les Pauls, or Gibsons in general for that matter?

Because young guys play Fenders, but old guys play Gibsons?

My strat is one of the legendary "Boat Anchors" and weighs more than a lot of Les Pauls.

Perhaps I should have asked whether the weight variation is as great with Fenders instead of the original question.

And ICBM - In my case that's true!

You only ever hear people moaning about Les Pauls. No Fenders ever go above 10lb (except the occasional Jazzmaster or Rosewood Tele). I'd say there is a similar range of weight variation, but because of the woods and designs, you never get to that super-heavy point with Fenders

Any of us with any sense buy nice light things like SGs and normal Teles

If you say to someone "what is the ideal weight for a Telecaster?" they will just shrug their shoulders. If they don't shrug anything check to see if they are wearing a 1976 Les Paul Deluxe.

Seems EC got that the wrong way round then.

I too have a 76 Stratanchor. I think the Range on fender is very varied, it just starts lower and ends lower.

Try hanging a Les Paul round your neck for a couple of hours and that should give you your answer
Do zen blues fans try to imagine the sound of one hand Clapton?
