I find nothing at all to recommend her output, her lyrics are basically imagery that may scan well but actually means sweet Fanny Adams (how do you roll in the deep, chase a pavement or set fire to rain?) and her music is crushingly samey and dull. Yet somehow she wins awards left, right and centre.

I'm not saying all lyrics have to be sensible or even make sense - that would sideline an awful lot of good music - it's just that Adele seems to have hoodwinked many people into thinking that she's actually got something to say, or is relevant in any way, shape or form. Of course, I'd rather she do well than someone like 50 Cent, but that's not saying much!

I couldn't care less if she was fat or thin - she'd be a load of horrid old bollocks regardless of BMI.
Bloody hell, did she take a shit on your front garden or something?

She put his cat in a bin.

Personally I dont like her either, but with the exception of when I'm at work if I don't want to listen to her, I just turn the music off/change channels etc so it's hard to be all Grrr! Hate! Arg! About something I don't have to hear.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with someone - she was saying "I hate star wars, more than anything in the world" and she didn't get where I was coming from with "how? are you ever forced to watch it? If you don't like it, don't watch it, unless it's chasing you somehow why take the time to hate it?" Meh.

Although, I take his point on one thing - the media constantly tell you how utterly amazing she is whenever there is reason to bring her up... not sure if its just REALLY good PR or the fact that the Media constantly need a "next big thing" to talk about...

    Back on topic.

There have been some stonkingly bad bond songs before... License to Kilt is probably one of my least faves (try listening to it... theres a sort of tut at the end of ever "Kill" so it sounds like "Kilt" ...)

Am just listening to it now...

Impressive that it instantly sounds like any other Bond song, with almost no distingsuishing sound... that's not actually not a negative. Other than the words it could be any bond title song, so thematically it's spot on. Well done to the writers/producers on that.

It is however a bit... oh. Ok.

I have a list of film sound tracks I keep meaning to buy, while I wont say "OMG, my ears, why did I do that to them?!" it also wont make the list.

I do find it odd how her songs are not only 'instantly forgettable' yet jdbwales is able to go into a rant about her lyrics

I think she's a good singer, good song writer too (want to make it rich in the music biz? Write songs drunk people want to sing along to - always write about failed relationships). She isn't going to be everyones cup of tea but nobody is, she dosn't sing or write music that I'm particularly fussed about but I can find merit in what she does.

Nope. Wouldn't put it past her though!

Those are song titles that I mentioned.

Also, you don't have to remember her lyrics, just listen to them once and realise what a shower of shit they are! I think it's just sad really that she's our premier female singer-songwriter these days, in much the same way that Muse are Britain's 'finest rock band' and the Foo Fighters are 'the biggest rock band in the world'. Yawn.

So.....a young woman signed to an indie label who don't seem to care about her image and the fact that she is overweight, and don't bother to give her any media training, makes an emotional connection with a billion people with her own songs + a bob dylan cover.

Am I the only one who is getting sick and tired of these clever marketing tricks?

I've got this mental image of you opening the living room curtains only to stare in horror at the sight of Adele on the garden, disemboweling your pet dog.

Then as a solitary tear descends your left cheek and your body trembles with rage, she rips the organs out of the massacred corpse and rubs them over her face, laughing like a maniac and savagely eating poor laddie's heart.

She catches your eye, a dark grin develops on her face like a blot of ink on wet paper, and she tears off her clothes. Still maintaining eye contact she unleashes a brown Mr. Whippy onto the freshly cut grass, mouths 'I love you' and runs off between a gap in the shrubbery.

You both love her and hate her for it, she was your first bit of chunk and you ended it all because of the fear of what your parents might say. Now you know that every song she writes is about you, every pubic hair stuck to your car window each morning is hers, every word she writes is a direct reference to you.

You can't cope with this knowledge. You can't cope with her rising popularity and her friendship with Alan Carr. You'll bring them both down. You remind people she can't sing, her songs are forgettable and that Alan Carr is a camp git with bad teeth - but nobody listens.

The dog was buried where it was slain...

Right, I'm going to make a cup of tea

If the number of people who have heard Adele/The Beatles/Whatever is not 14% we can go with your figure or meet half-way. BTW - I am halfway through your list of film recommendations.
