I agree about the cringey kitsch, but I thought they'd gone too far towards Hollywood action movie (a genre I can't stand) direction and missed that ironic British coolness that the Connery films had - I felt the same about Dalton, even though he's my second favourite Bond... and his films themselves are quite poor.

but i cant really watch the old ones all the way through any more
I'd agree if you mean Lazenby and later - but Connery had the perfect combination of coolness, ultra-dry humour and menace. The first four films have very believable plots that don't really rely on gadgets, as well - From Russia and Thunderball in particular. You Only Live Twice was perhaps where they went over the top, although I still love it - it's become much-parodied at least a bit because it's such a classic. But that was number five, and we're on twenty-three now... there's a lot of downhill there.

I was discudding Bond theme tunes on the back of the Adele release with somebody and between us not got the foggiest what the theme tune to Moonraker was.

Must, surely, be regarded as one the very worst Bond films - was it not saved at least a little bit by a decent song?

computer now keeps logging me out so I can post but not edit.

it was 'discussing' not 'discudding.' just a typo - nervous breakdown not started ( yet).

No, but it's the great "I think he's attempting re-entry" pun at the end.

I bet Shirley Bassey wishes everyone would forget she ever did it too...

Three Bond themes, but only two that anyone can remember - Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever. It was in a pub quiz I was at a while ago, and most people thought her third one was The Man With The Golden Gun (which was actually Lulu).

I'm not joking at all. Overall career, yes... but Licence To Kill is sappy drivel and unworthy of her talent.

and the other pub quiz question is which Bond theme(s) aren't named after the film?

( I think I know the answer but I don't dare say in case I'm wrong!)

All Time High - I would never have got that, ever.Although a song called Octopussy is pretty unlikely I suppose.
