Gareth (Jetfire)'s marketing strategy was surprisingly effective...

Was a good show, great to see plenty of British builders there. I was surprised by the amount of shite relics that are currently popping up though...I really like the idea, but some of them were quite comical, seems like anyone with an Allparts account and an orbital sander is having a go these days!

I had a fun time. Plenty of coffee, bacon sandwiches, jaffa cakes, guitars, amps, toys, and people buying stuff!

    Good points for me:

The rather incredible set-neck, blue, Stormshadow DBS guitar that I did the Stormshadow demonstration with got sold 45 minutes later!

The "little guitar shop" people are still some of the friendliest and most helpful I've ever met.

It was lovely to see Tim, Gareth, & Mark (timmyo, jetfire, and guitarslinger). Your company as always never fails to bring a smile to my face, and it's always good to see people who can do that at guitar shows!

Nice to now be able to match up a couple more forum people to faces! Good to meet Chris Jordan and Ianpdq.

Hayden Hewitt was entertaining as ever, and hosted a great jam spot with show goers and made an excellent presentation for Vigier guitars.

Not so good points for me:

The electrics in the venue on our side of the hall were not so great, were off at the beginning of the show, and were subsequently not too reliable after that, and did some not very good things with our amps. The demo space electrics weren't much better and made for a noisy prototype 'hellfire' head which was duly disassembled, tested, and re-born at the show every bit as good as it was before it came out of the car.

There were a lot of 'shredders' playing a lot of shred through a lot of high gain amps (or equivalent simulations) which in and of itself is fine, but it accumulated into a wall of not so cool noise which made for it being a very loud show, which felt louder than normal, and not always as comfortable as these shows can be.

Zilla cabs make some really good stuff! Sounded amazing, although I wasn't too sure about why some people seemed to need to test them for 20 minutes straight, playing the same riff.

Sorry to be a negatron, but I thought the show was terrible! It was half the size of previous years. Some main stands weren't there (PMT, Eggle, PJ Eggle, Rob Williams, Brian May Guitars etc). £8-10 to get in was shocking! I had cash to spend too - but it all stayed in my pocket. I won't be returning next year....roll on Manson's show!

I thought the whole thing was awful. I didn't hear Sweet Child O' Mine once let alone the requisite 15 times an hour.

Saying that, I spent most of my time at the Matrix sounds soaking up all the goodness that was there. I also had a look at some of the Deizel stuff too.

I think I may need a nice little MJW to cheer myself up. I love my rack-based goodness and practicality, but the MJWs just look lovely.

    Possibly my new favourite guitar.
