    He was either being typically Lennon-esque (dry barbed humour) or he was just plain wrong. The proof is in the Beatle recordings with Paul on drums - flashy but unsubtle and with no real feel.

    Ringo was an excellent drummer, perfect for the Beatles, and I can only think that people who put him down rate drummers on technical accuracy alone and don't actually listen to the music...

    That's my favourite Lennon quote - listening to stuff like A Day in the Life shows how tasty Ringo's playing could be.

    I'm guessing it was the same Goldtop he was using for the '78 Wembley gig they showed after the doc. He mentions buying a Goldtop new in '74 here:
