    Default Amp internals

    For the interested.

Enlightening stuff about how amps are really made (mojo spoiler alert).

    Some useful stuff there.

Note that there is only one point-to-point amp in the whole lot of them...

And the fire damage in the old AC30 chassis .

Those two-rocks and Hiwatts are art.

Gibson ga15. Er, try the brown one. No, the red one. I bet a bomb disposal expert would have a job with that one.

The Hiwatts, yes... the Two-Rock (I can only see one, 'Custom Reverb') is a mess.

I'd pick the Hiwatts, the Soldano SLO and the Roccaforte as the overall best made there.

The Marshall TSL doesn't come out of this too well.

    Hiwatt: work of art.

On the Two-rock I quite like the layout of the components - the wiring I didn't really take note of, but it looks kind of like a wave, which might have some effect on the feetback. </spurious science theory>

Jeez...I was sitting here with a smug grin on my face at the state of all those Marshalls (I really don't like Marshalls anyway), then I hit the Gibson and my brain just said "WTF?" and walked off in amazement.

I had occasion to open up my new Jet City yesterday, and it was a *lot* tidier than most of those amps.

Certainly some nice work there but such a shame that mains and other high voltage points are not booted and sleeved wherever practical.

One amp I saw in the second thread I posted was fully PTP and each exposed wire had a transparent plastic sleeve covering it up to the solder point. Proper attention to detail.

Amazing when you think 90% of people will never look at it.
