    Default Boost/overdrive reccomendations?

I'm looking for a boost to push my Blackstar a little harder.

I specifically dont want a TS style boost though, that midrangey/bass cut sound that "tightens things up" for metal and such.

If anything, I want a LOOSER sound, lots more gain and looser bass, think, Josh Holme of Queens of the stone age. That kind of low middy grind.

Any ideas? was looking at way huge but theyve got like 4 different overdrives and I dont know the difference.

I tried a Joyo OCD clone into a Blackstar and it sounded awesome. Really big and chunky.

The Boss DS1 sounds great into the drive channel of a Blackstar, but maybe a bit 80's

Boss Blues Driver - very big low end when you whack it up
    Red ones are better.

I'd agree, the Boss BD-2 is the opposite of the usual mid-heavy OD pedals. I could never get it to work well through my Vox AC15 though - I don't think a pedal that aims to recreate a Fender-style amp works well through a very "British"-sounding amp. I'd expect it to work much better with a Blackstar with their eq controls.

If you don't get on with it you can sell it on with little loss, and there's also plenty of mods around to improve the bass response, make it less harsh etc.

I have the Xotic EP Booster and love it.

As an added bonus...........it's very small and only takes up half a pedal space on your board - the pedal equivalent of a Smart Car.

    Highly recommended

Big Muff. Halfway between a fuzz and a distortion and very loose-sounding by pedal standards.

I just got a TC electronic spark booster to push my Laney GH50l and it's fantastic. I use the fat boost setting and it makes the tone sound huge. The GH50l is quite an open sounding amp and the spark booster is completely transparnet so it just makes the tone i love that wee bit bigger.
