    Default Machineheads for 9mm hole?

    What are the options?
Most seem to be 10mm but the neck I've got has a headstock with 9mm holes. I don't want to drill the holes out if I can help it, in case the drill wanders.

    Sub £50, preferably.

    Hit me!

+1 I use one of these too. super easy to use and only takes a few minutes to get all your holes to the right size. As long as you use it a few turns in both sides and keep checking with your tuner to see if it fits you can't go wrong.

I use reamers at work, but for enlarging 1.2mm holes to 1.4mm in plastic lenses that are only a couple of mm thick.

Hadn't thought about reamers for wood tbh. The neck I have is lacquered- is there any risk of chipping the lacquer using one of these?

I'd look for a less extreme reamer. You should be able to get one that's 8mm-10mm that will remove a lot less wood and giv less risk of chipping the surrounding finish

The annoying thing about that is that I was offered the vintage machine heads that were on the headstock at the time I bought it and I said no!
