Avoiding the whether you like relics or not debate .... and focussing on the OP question about experience with MJT.

The body on this strat is an MJT, I bought it direct from them. I bought the body to go with an old Fender neck I'd acquired which was already in a fair state of decay, so I decided to go for a fairly heavily relic-ed body to match.

In my view it's an exceptionally good body. Two piece, light and resonant. The finish is very thin nitro and brittle, just like a genuine old fender. The laquer checking is really good, I suspect he uses freeze / thaw, certainly not razorbades. The shading of "yellowing" on the white of the body is sublime being darker where the guitar would not get rubbed in use and lighter where it does. The body was pretty much good to go when received, the neck pocket was a good fit with the neck. I took a little time to smooth off the edges of some of the distressing as it looked a little "new" to my eyes and applied my magic formula to dirty up the top coat and laquer checking a bit.

For those that worry about it becoming a "fake" there is a very deep "MJT" stamp in the neck pocket it would be very difficult to remove it without wrecking the pocket.

The neck's a 1983 Fender '63 reissue and the best strat neck i've ever played. Its got all the attributes of an old neck that you can't really fake, genuine rolled edges on the board and the laquer remaining on the back of the neck is like teflon. One change made to the neck was to remove the plastic position markers and replace with proper "clay" dots (using the right gloop!) Electrics are from a Fender CS Rory Gallacher (great pickups) The pickguard and other plastic is "fatboy" aged with a bit of sweat and nicotine added. The bridge is from Crazyparts with a proper weight steel trem block. All in the guitar weighs 7.5lb exact.

For me it's my ideal stratocaster, plays like a dream and sounds superb (well when someone else is playing it!). Overall it cost me about 1/3 the list cost of a Fender CS and it's better than any I've tried .. will do me for a long time to come.

That Strat is, actually, a very good copy of a genuine relic. One can tell instantly that it's been done properly.
