    Default Expiring Domain Names Question

I have found a domain name I want to register, and it is currently expired (since 10/07/12, not sure if that is UK or US date format) pending renewal or deletion...

Is there any way I can get to the top of the list so that if it finally and properly expires I will automatically obtain it?

You can either keep checking until it becomes available and try to register it the moment it does, or register with one of the 'sniping' services that check the domain's availability non-stop until it's available and then registers it automatically. Some registrars will automatically transfer the domain to their pool of expired domains without letting it become available so that they can auction it off at a later date.
