Tilt back legs

I'm thinking of putting some tilt back legs on my PRRI, is there any reason not too?
Do you lose much bass when the amp is tilted back and would they affect resale value of the amp much? And do they add much weight?

I'd rather not carry an amp stand around although that probably would be the best option.

if you are using it live and not being micked up then amp stand is a much better option. that way the amp beams at you AND the punters. No legs means amp beams at the punters (and your ankles - no good!) and tilted means it beams at you but not the punters - also not good.

generally decoupling the amp from the floor is good for a guitar - it does reduce the low bass but this helps leave space for the bass player. there are definitely some threads on here where ICBM and others have discussed this in good detail with good explanations if you want more info.

A lightweight flightcase is a much better solution - it makes a great stand, and also a handy amp protector .

I don't like tilting back an amp like that - it does let you hear it better, but too much so - you end up right in the treble beam of the speaker, so you tend to dial the amp in too dark to compensate - and at the expense of projection out into the room. They do cut a little bass as well but that's not the main problem. They look cool, but overall I think they were one of Leo's less brilliant ideas.

They probably wouldn't affect the resale value if you used proper Fender legs and fitted them correctly though. You also need to fit corner protectors on the bottom corners (which the Princeton doesn't come with) or you'll chew up the tolex.

I like tilt back legs. But I also like my sound much treblier than most people do so YMMV

I used to use the tilt back legs when I first started using a Twin Reverb several years ago now.

I quickly stopped using them as I noticed that the chassis became ver-r-r-r-r-r-y hot; hardly surprising as the hot air from the valves was now rising into the chassis.
