Default Look what I squeezed on...

    Nano-tastic:

New Polytune Mini means I can get a tuner and a 'favourite' switch for the El Capistan on

Will make the patch cables up tomorrow (Lava plugs are on on their own in the pic to check spacing)

I bet you could get a small double-favourite switch in so the strymon's had one each....

Good work though, I really like the idea of nano boards

I spent ages *almost* getting both to fit on but it wasn't going to happen (and to be fair I hardly ever use the one for the Lex).

I also reckon that where the BB is, 2 x Mooer-sized pedals could fit, if one were of a mind to do it.

Nice. Do you need tinier feet/winklepickers for that board, or is switching one thing on/off at a time OK?

It's a good point and there were other ways to slot stuff in that was even worse for that believe it or not.

In an ideal world I'd have the 2 big pedals a cm or 2 further apart, and the tuner pushed back a bit so as not to ever accidentally touch it (although fat-footedness only ever seems to be a problem for me when I'm singing too with too much to think about ) - I did have a stomp about with it before settling - I did also think about flopping the favourite switch offboard once it's plonked down and pushing the tuner back - I may mess about with it a little bit but for now I was just chuffed to bits with the tiny tuner

I prefer to be able to keep my heel on the floor while turning pedals on or off. Tried tap-dancing while playing/singing once - wasn't pretty.

The Fave switch only gets done Pre-song, ditto tap tempo. On the Lex it's usually the Fast/Slow switch being hit mid-song and that's at an end as is the BB so for how I use them, it's not as troublesome as it might look.

Thread hijack: Been thinking of getting a BB Preamp MB. How is it? I'd probably be using it into an already dirty amp, you won't be massively shocked to hear.

Ach I'm cautious these days re unreservedly recommending things as invariably people don't agree, or I later decide to try something else and I feel bad. But that said:

I do really like it - I like that it (in its non-MB guise too) that the lead sound it makes with the gain at half or above is a really good one, but so is the less compressed sound it makes with things turned down low. The EQ is more flexible than a basic passive single control. I often start any noodling session with it on and playing big stacked power chords - in to my (set crunchy) amp it's a huge Marshall-esque grind (imo). Set in to a clean amp (look it up or ask a friend ;-) ) the rhythm sound is still good but the lead sound still really shines (again, imo)

Interestingly I was able to side-by-side it with a King Of Tone (clone) recently and I really really liked the KOT in to my crunchy amp - less absolute gain on tap but with an obviously flatter response and more string definition. It made me pull the mid control on the BB MB back a bit to get closer to it. That said I've been caught out like this before auditioning pedals at home - imho with the band something that might sound a smidge boxy/nasal/middley in a dierct isolated comparison is actually better for getting heard, which is the whole point of stomping on the pedal right?

In short: I really like it - even if I go through a phase of not using it I'll hold on to it.

But I do wonder if your amp is already pretty dirty then maybe you could get by with something less eye-wateringly expensive?

Cheers Tim. Gregson's got the Timmons model and another friend has the standard one, so I'll check those out first. Am I right in thinking the mid knob can cut as well as boost?

I have seen the Mooer stuff, and the even cheaper Joyo Crunch Box clone. I'm sure they'd be good, although I thought of the Crunch Box as being designed for clean amps. Anyway, I've just bought a Mk 1 Guv'nor for a good price which really should stop me looking, but becoming a student again has given me insatiable pedal lust.
