    Default Outdoor remote control switch

I'm planning to put a security light with PIR on the front of my garage. With the layout of our driveway it means having to venture into the pitch black void to trigger the PIR, and I'd rather have the option of switching the light on manually.

But with the garage and drive being separated from the house running a cable to the house isn't practical. So, I'm thinking I could put a waterproof remote sensor on the garage wall facing the house and keep a remote control in the house. To wire this up is simple enough......but can I find a suitable waterproof remote control switch? Nope.

I've search obvious things with Google but tend to get manual switches which "can be remote-operated" but no info on what to buy to do that. Or, they are £140 which is silly.

I can't be the only person wanting to do this so they must exist. And I'm sure my Google skills are pretty decent. Any thoughts?

Good find. Doesn't say if it's waterproof. And it needs a power supply as well so it's costly.

I'm sure B&Q will have something.

How about a 2nd PIR on the garage facing towards the house?

Possibly a solar one so no wiring to worry about?

I've been told to look into tinkering with a wireless doorbell kit if I want a remote switch.

This is for a project involving something long in tinfoil and a small motor, a housemate and a late night fridge visit, so nothing so sensible as a light.

How about one of those battery lights (LED based) for stair wells, the one you press for xx seconds of light. It would get you into the dark area to trigger the PIR. No fuss or mess as long as the batteries are changed each winter ready.
