wow, that is a huge subject....

Do not use a WYSIWYG development enviroment, as it will add all sorts of dodgy code, do not employ Flash as that is becomming obsolete.

Is it a static page? ... if so learn some HTMl and CSS and you should be OK, I would suggest learning some JavaScript/PHP to make the site interactive and more interesting for the end user. Don't forget that a lot of users are using mobile devices to view pages , therefore I would suggest a seporate CSS page to control the layout for devices that for instance have a resolution of less than 480px? you can code this by querying the user agent size.... phew... that is just the top of the mountain though. ....

What do you want to achieve from the site?

Ohh not getting that technical .... I was looking at getting the domain names I need and a web host first , and just wanted to know which are the best. I was watching the TV ad for 1 to 1 and see they have an "idiots web setup tool" so that might work for me.

It is for my daughter . She has just signed contracts with a theatrical agent for TV and Film work , and under a seperate management company she is recording her songs. So my thought is if I can get the domain names locked to us , if her career takes off somebody else does not buy the domains. Then for a bit of fun she can have a simple website where she can load her photo's and sound clips . She has just had all her headshots made , and we have some demo samples of her studio work . That way her agent for acting and her music manager can direct casting directors to look at the site , and we can put a link into her spotlight listing.

Hope this makes the need a little clearer....
    no worries

Really basic is Google Pages - add a domain name and an email address and away you go.

Next step would be a Wordpress site from one of the many web hosting companies.

hmmm, I'm not sure that statement is totally correct

However, as others have suggested learning a little html is a good to start and also see if your local college is running evening classes on Dreamweaver. Once you get the idea of how it works then you will be making simple but efficient websites in no time. Online course such as Lynda.com are great for further training or just use YouTube.
Looking to buy either a Fender 65 Princeton Reverb or Cornell Romany Plus.

It quite simple to administrate, but you do need to do some reading to get into the first steps I think.

My private page (www.jonbuer.com) is made in Joomla, which is a free CMS, but requires a web-hotel, or your own server to function.
