Default <gig> Album Launch, London, Covent Garden, 24th Jan 08

I'm doing a gig at Papgenos Restaurant in Covent Garden, proving visuals for the delightful Society of Imaginary Friends for the launch of their album Sadness is a Bridge to Love, there will be support from Band of Holy Joy and William D Drake - both of which are great, and you should check them out. There's a short film being shown and the album will be available to purchase.

The style of music is fairly difficult to describe - the band is an opera singer, an accordion player and a violinist with computer backings, the voice is fantastic and playing superb, the composition clever, witty and often moving. You can hear some stuff at:

I would recommend you listen to 'For those online'

I will probably be hiding in a dark corner somewhere, or in a balcony with any luck tending to a projector and video mixer.

You can already buy a digital copy of the album from http://indiestore.7digital.com/soif where it was the indie store Christmas number one.

Ooh, I like "For Those Online"... some of the arrangement sounds a bit Joby Talbot-ish. You've also reminded me that I've been meaning to find out about William D Drake for ages (his post-Cardiacs work, I mean). And now I have, and I'm smiling

Unfortunately my normally non-existent social life is already double-booked for this evening, otherwise I would have liked to come along

Bill is brilliant, he's areally nice bloke as well, I drank all the wine backstage at a recent gig of his and he didn't complain at all. I think he's playing on his own tonight, you should check him out when he is performing with 'friends', or 'so called friends' as it's a great ensemble of people he has with him.
