...and they've done another re-mastering job on the old albums, to be released next year with bonus tracks (alt versions and outtakes I think rather than true unreleased tracks).

Exactly! I wasn't disputing that, more a nod to that being the case.

Hence why I stated "out of the mix"

Well I got as far as Stairway on the DVD last night.

It does indeed take them a few songs to get into it. 'Ramble on' is a bit of a mess (and surely a bad choice for second track, assuming this is the running order from the night). I think it clicks halfway through "In My Time of Dying", and by the time they get to "Trampled Underfoot" they're once again the greatest band in the world.

Such a shame they didn't tour

It is indeed footage of a full rehearsal!

One wide shot for the whole thing so no close-ups but it's a full run through of the gig.

That's pretty damn cool then! Alas money-consciousness got the better of me so I cancelled my preorder of the DVD and stuck it on my Christmas list. If you see Santa on Boxing Day with a black eye, you'll know why...

It's all tuned down so much it's sounds wrong!! Jason Bonham is amazing but page is very disappointing - very messy and time of dying is waaaay too slow - not got any further yet but so far very disappointed

Agree with that. Bit of a slow start - then they get ripping. Trampled Underfoot is brilliant and I loved every moment of the whole gig. Even the bum notes, because it sounded like four blokes playing together, not the re-recorded bollocks that so many live albums are.

And no ego from Jimmy. You know he could have fixed those notes before the album/DVD release. But he's happy to sound like he's getting old. Just listen to some of the stuff on the album him and Percy did a few years ago - they both sounded so old - and that's what made it so good.
