    Default Fender American Standard Basses

Has anyone tried the new American standard basses?

I have tried loads of Fender basses over the years in the hope that I would find one I liked.

My bass collection is 99% Status Graphite and 1 non status. and it isn't a Fender.

That said - a Jazz body / pickups etc with a Status fretless neck is a lovely thing indeed.

I don't doubt they look great - and the design is ace. It is the implimentation I can't get on with.

Lakland and Sadowsky jazz basses are wonderful.

I've got s USA precision and it's very good. Very punchy and a lot of volume.

The bass player in my main band has a Japan Jazz from the early 90s and it's probably better though. Boo!

The new ones have some nice improvements, and they are genuine improvements and really help distance the US models from the ridiculously playable Mex series....

I must add as a dis-claimer that I'm talking really from experience of the guitars... I've not had chance to try a new US Bass yet.... but the guitars are as above so I've no reason to doubt basses won't be!

The only issue I have with the new American Standards is that there is quite a hefty price rise on basses...

If I was buying a bass again I'd have a US jazz bass, no doubt whatsoever.

You must have like, a hundred basses.

If I was to buy another bass it would be a US P-Bass Special (if it felt good).

I've got a Geddy Lee signature Jazz bass (MIJ) - the neck has a nice comfortable profile to it, thinner than the regular Jazz bass profile.

Worth checking one out if you can.

    Nooo, you cheeky bollocks.

That's a lovely looking bass IMO and I sometimes see a guy at a blues jam with one that looks old (well, you never know if it's been aged or not ). I'd forgotten about it until now.
