If they're 16 ohms the easiest thing is to connect them using the stock wiring, then it will do what it says on the tin. If they're 8 ohms, you'll need to rewire the cab for series (16 ohms in mono), which will almost certainly mean ditching the circuit board - personally, I don't like PCBs in speaker cabinets anyway and I would probably do that even if you were keeping it as a parallel cab.
If you need to know which wire is which, the simplest thing is to look on the circuit board and trace where each wire goes to - the ones that go to the tip connections of the jacks (furthest away from the panel) are the positive connections.
