    Actually it's just as much because Speakons - while better - are not necessary at guitar-amp power levels. 1/4" is plenty good enough for a typical 50W into 8 ohms, or even OK for 100W into 4 ohms. (1/4" contact rating is 6A, or at least it is with decent plugs.) Why make things more complicated than they need to be? Guitarists have been using 1/4" for decades and there really is no need to fix something that isn't broken.

    At typical modern bass amp power levels like 300W or more into 4 ohms, you do want something better, certainly.

    Sommer make coaxial speaker cables - it's not the structure that matters so much as having enough copper there.
