Dictators either renounce god or sieze control of the state religion so no one can muscle in on their turf. It has nothing to do with god and everything to do with control.
    Agreed

He was a carpenter, surely he would have made his own? But then, he quit that job so he probably wasn't very good at it.

How would you define dismissively referring to the miracles of Jesus as making zombies? Is that balanced or well-reasoned debate? Of course it isn’t, but you haven’t made a list of those types of post have you. Whether you agree the miracles happened or not, it is not respectful of someone’s position and should have no place in reasoned debate, but if the thread has taken that turn, I’m not one to shy away from it.

I have responded to the frankly silly rantings (for want of a better word) or a few nameless posters above, who were trying to deliberately provoke me. I think they wanted to try to herd me into some sort of corner where I would start spouting fundamentalist Christian clap-trap, and quoting the Bible here there and everywhere. It would make them feel more comfortable. But I am not going to do that because I am not one of those people.

But I will respond in my own way if people have a go at me. I always do.

    Sorry.
It's okay to be angry. Why hide it?

Do I trust people who I think are concealing their emotions? Nope, do you?

Why would anyone want to engage in discussions and undermine trust simultaneously?

Is someone wanting to provoke you reason to be provoked? I know what I think, and I know how hard it is to stick to my belief on that. So I understand some of your situation.

I have a code of conduct, and when I'm at odds with it, I hate being reminded by people but it's great to regain that sense of living up to my own expectations - no matter how briefly.

When ever a thread pops up with a reference to religion that's such massive post count it makes me wonder why most of the people posting on the thread don't spend all day on some kind of religion versus atheist forum .... where they could spend all day arguing about it ....... cos you can see they love it. Same old faces too

I think part of it is boredom. As I've said before; generally in life I'm not a debater when it comes to religion. I just get on with fapping.

As someone who occasionally plays guitar in a church worship group I thought I'd throw in my two pen'orth...

    1. This a MUSIC forum. I don't feel this is the place to criticise peoples' faiths, beliefs, atheism or whatever. I'm sure there are more appropriate forums for discussions on questions of faith or lack thereof.

    2. Plenty of 'old' hymns use the popular tunes and styles from the times that were written. I personally see no reason why more modern genres should not be used today - the idea that some styles are "The Devil's Music" seems odd to me - up to a point it's all just notes.
Do zen blues fans try to imagine the sound of one hand Clapton?

You want to see the flame war that started on the theory thread because someone didn't believe in Gsus
