    Default Amp recomendations?

I'm considering a new amp head. I want something that is versatile. Good cleans, but also that 'slightly breaking up' clean, decent crunch/rhythm and a good singing overdrive/lead.
I'm looking for something that can be used at home, so a master volume would be a necessity. It will probably see the odd gig too, so I would like midi control to stop the tap-dancing routine that I don't get with my current live, rack, set up.
My thoughts are going with the new Marshall JVM410hjs, the Carvin Legacy 3 or the Carvin V3.
Have I missed anything obvious?? I will be trying out before I buy, but I'll have to trek around the country, not much in the way of local music shops here

I've already got a Fender HRD so don't want (haven't got space for!) another combo. A head can live on top of my rack above my 2x12s

    Any other suggestions?

off the top of my head

    engl blackmore
engl screamer (prefer blackmore but screamer might be more versatile/have better cleans)
    laney vh100r

do you have any budget? i just recommended things around the price of the things you're looking at.

The Carvins would definitely suit that, also an X100B would be good, I have one which sounds great for crunchy tones and glassy cleans.

Yes, thats the ball park, although I'm not in a great rush so could save a bit more if I saw something I really liked.

The x100b isn't midi functional and with only two channels I'd be back to the old tap dancing routine

I'll throw this one out there: May I recommend trying an Axe-FX? I know they are going to be in the Matrix room at the Newcastle guitar show on the 28th of October.

    thanks

maybe those new evh heads are worth a look. the 50 watters is under budget on thomann. I haven't tried them, though. there are also those new dv mark heads, but i haven't tried those either.

i liked the brunetti xlr-evo when i tried it, but they're pretty hard to find, i think. and might be too expensive even if you can find them.

Have you thought about an egnator tweaker amp?
Come is either 15W (single channel), 40W (Dual identical channels with clean and crunch modes) or 88W version (with a few more tweaks).
It can do fendery/vox/marshall type sounds a really versitile head. Only thing it lacks is reverb, but it has a really good switchable serial FX loop.
OK it does not have midi but I contol mine with a G-system so not much of an issue with me.
