Default Acoustic strings for live use with a magnetic pickup

Just wondering what people's experiences are with different/cheaper strings for live use with a magnetic p/u (in my case a Fishman Rare Earth)

I have quite corrosive sweat so go through a lot of strings on my live acoustic - a Martin GC MMV, I tend to go through about 1 set per 1/2 gigs - and although I certainly appreciate the difference in certain strings with my recording acoustic (J-45) where a mic picks up the 'true' sound of the guitar I wonder what people think about cheaper strings for live work where a magnetic pickup is obviously not picking up all the nuances of your 'true sound'.

In my experience there is little difference in the sound of different brands of string through a p/u despite there being much larger differences in the actual acoustic tone.

My line of thought is obviously trying to reduce cost on strings for live use!

    Anyone have any suggestions/feedback/experiences?

It might be worth sticking a set of electric guitar strings on it, as they are cheaper than acoustic strings and will be work better with the magnetic pickup. I know this is a trick Michael Hedges employed on his guitars, as the mag pickup worked better with steel strings compared to bronze.
