Default Hell yes. Aerosmith is back!!!

    Here.

Some of the new album has leaked on to Grooveshark for your streaming pleasures. Right now, so stoked!!

    http://grooveshark.com/#!/album/Musi...ension/7896275

    Favourites:
    - Street Jesus
    - Beautiful
    - Lover A Lot (this one isn't on Grooveshark but is available as a download single from iTunes)
    - What Could Have Been Love (if you don't like somewhat-commercial ballads and a little bit of slick, maybe avoid)

    Not sure:
    - LUV XXX

    Really don't get:
    - Legendary Child

The rest... pretty excellent, but require some more listening time before I decide where to place them.

Is it still not out yet? Good grief, Axl was talking about Chinese Democracy for less time than Aerosmith have been threatening this album!

"threatening"? I think you mean promising. And delivering.

Of course this album beats the steaming pile of poop that was Chinese Democracy. The difference here is that Aerosmith are still together as the original lineup and they still have some credibility and song-writing/ass-kicking capability (see 'Beautiful' and 'Street Jesus')

It's out November the... oh well if you're in the UK, the 5th.

For me it's the 2nd. So only 9 more days of pain to endure!!!

I think before we decide whether Aerosmith has lost it we should consider listening to "Out Go the Lights" which is very 70s/80s Aerosmith http://www1.rollingstone.com/hearitn...lights716.html

Can you REALLY honestly say that you're trying to compare this stuff to Chinese Democracy?

Chinese Democracy was a disgrace. It was over-produced. It was barely even a rock record. The only possible similarity you can draw up between MFAD! and CD is that they both took over 10 years to see the light of day.

That's all. They were recorded by different people, in different ways, written in different ways... This is a varied and exciting rock record as demonstrated by all I've heard of it so far.

LUV XXX - kinda average rocky, not overly overproduced but a bit meh.
Oh Yeah! - classic rock n' roll vibe
What Could Have Been Love? - commercial but not overly overproduced ballad
Beautiful - a radio friendly, but not overproduced (to the point of the Just Push Play album) rock number with a soaring stadium chorus...
Lover A Lot - driving rock song!!
Out Go the Lights - a funky bluesy hard rockin' song like 70s/80s Aerosmith
Street Jesus - hard and fast, bit heavier, really Aerosmith (lyrically)
Legendary Child - again a bit heavier, lyrically a bit meh, but it was written commercially on purpose as a "we're back!" statement and it's on the GI Joe movie soundtrack...
Tell Me - a darker number...

There's a couple of others I've heard too that found their way on to Grooveshark. Can't remember what they all were but one of them was "Freedom Fighter" and all I can say is if the track that appeared there is what's going to be on the album, "wtf?" is the only comment I can make!! :s

Oh and I really like the Carrie Underwood ballad (Can't Stop Loving You)

Erm ..That was the only similarity I was trying to draw between them. I never said they were similar musically...

My point really was that I was stoked when they started talking about the new album but its taken so long to finally get it done that my interest peaked a long time ago. I don't know why bands feel the need to big up albums so ridiculously far in advance. I guess it's a result of our 24 hour news internet world

    Favourites?

I'm still very much drawn to Beautiful, Street Jesus, Out Go the Lights, What Could Have Been Love...

LUV XXX (originally titled Love Three Times A Day) has grown on me.
Legendary Child has grown on me.
Quite liking the Carrie Underwood duet ballad.

Heard positive things about more of the tracks that still haven't been unleashed yet.

    Soooooo keen!

Faves so far - and it's only been a quick scan through the album yet, to be honest - are Street Jesus and Out Go The Lights.

I hope this doesn't sound like a backhanded compliment but its as good an album as you could hope for from a 2012 version of Aerosmith... Pleasantly surprised.

I've had the album for a few days now... all I can say:

    - Bonus tracks: crap (Up on the Mountain/Oasis in the Night/Sunny Side of Love), the others are fine.
    - Joe Perry tracks: no. Just... no.
    - Closing track "Another Last Goodbye" ...oh. God. No. Worst thing since the closing track of The Darkness' 2nd album...
    - the rest of the album? Pretty dang awesome.

    That's my final thoughts.
