    Default I hate Mr Brightside

I really, really want to play this but I just can't play the fecking riff. I know most of the people on here can play it easily and that makes it worse. I can almost manage it while sitting down with my hand craned around the fretboard in a painful and unnatural (for me) manner but there's no way I can play it standing up. Even sitting down, that last stretch requires a Father Ted Lovely Horse "wait, I can get this" moment.

Aaaargh. Fecking Killers. All their songs sounds so easy and so punters expect you to be able to play them but they're never easy.

Does it not rely on a weird tuning?

As far as I remember the Killers guy does it in a different tuning with one string a semitone sharp.
You can do it in standard but it's a stretch.

Its very easy. Why would you need a string sharp? We play it in C# and cant see where the stretch is?

That is a shame, he speaks highly of you.

Maybe I play it differently. the first two 'bass' notes (C#, C 16th 15th) I play on A string and F# on E string 14th so cant see the stretch?

It's not easy , but once you get your fingers used to it it's tolerable. More of a contortion than a stretch per se.

Mr Keuning plays it tuned down half a step, fingers thusly: X-17-16-19-17-0

First finger on D string, second finger on A string, third finger on B string and pinky on G string. Then for the 15th Fret G/F# (bass note of 3rd time around, depending on the key) swap to use your first finger for the E string and second finger on the D string

In my band we play it in standard tuning, with the top E tuned to D, and fingered: X-15-14-17-15-0

which has the effect of being a semitone lower than the original

I play it in D, no stretch needed just

    17
    16
    19

    Then

    0
    15
    19

Then drop the D to a C# then G etc

That works well enough in standard tuning

Oh my god, I actually play it right!

Well...in theory I play it right...how many times I actually hit the right string at the right time is open to debate.

Been playing it three years, still cringe when I get to this song on the setlist.
