Default Gibson J 185 EC Rosewood.

I just bought a Gibson J 185 EC Rosewood for £1699.00. http://www.toneworld.co.uk/acoustic-...n=froogle#1043. This a good price? Or have I been a bit over enthusiastic? Been after one for ages.

A quick look on t'Web suggests this is a very good price - Andertons are asking a bit over £2300. As always, if it pleases your ears then it's "the one".

Yes, it is Pre-owned, I knew that before I bought it tbh, I spoke to Toneworld about it first and they assured me that it was practically unplayed with almost no signs of ever being taken out of the case even, when you buy a supposed New guitar from a guitar shop that's been hanging up for several weeks/ months and tried out by lots of potential customers isn't that virtually a "used" guitar by the time someone buys it anyway? This looks like it's in virtually Brand New condition, but I'll know more when I take delivery of it on Sat. I suppose.

I used to own a J185, traded it for a Gibson 165 Herb Ellis, both were stunning instruments.

Yep....Roll on Saturday....I'll let you know what its actually like when it gets here.....can hardly wait, been learning some John Denver Picking stuff recently (he was a very good underrated guitarist you know), can't wait to give them a blast on it.....gonna give 'Classical Gas' a run through first though, it's a great Test Tune for any guitar (My Wife is sick of that tune though tbh, lol )

You can rely that the guitar will be exactly as described by Tone World. I've known the people there for around 20 years. They are the straightest people in music retail that you could ever hope to deal with.

Guitar arrived today....very well packaged, the guys at Tone World went to some trouble to make sure it was going arrive safe and sound. although I have now taken it out of the package box I have not yet opened it. It was very cold to the touch, ( Van must have been like a fridge LOL ) so I am leaving untill tomorrow to open it, give it time to adjust tote house temp etc. ( I'm taking advice from a fellow guitarist and drinking partner ) My wife thinks I've lost the plot however and doesn't think I'll last the night without peeking.....it's now become a Bet, lol, I have to last untill 10.30....I am NOT doing ALL the washing up for a whole week and I am NOT going to PRIMEMARK with her either....but she's cheating....she keeps pointing at it....saying things like " Go on....you know you want to....it's only a few dishes and a visit to a shop!".....Mind games!

no idea what the weather is like with you, but unless its actually below 0 outside/in the van, you should be OK in a couple/three hours just to reach the room temp in your house
