Presumably at 100 watts the Fender is at least as loud? Suspect the Mustang would be an easier re-sell as well.

The new Mustang amps have a price/feature ratio which is hard to beat on paper. As for loudness, it all depends on if the low end can thump like a valve amp. It's worth taking your favourite guitar and A/B a few amps at a good retailer.

confused.com. Wattage is wattage and volume is volume. They might be connected, but they aint the same.

I think what you're trying to say is that due to a number of factors, including how amp volume is actuallu measured (ie before power section break up), a valve amp would appear considerably louder than a s/s amp of the same wattage.

    or may be not

There's no such thing as "wattage" . It's *power* .

Solid-state amps do genuinely not sound as loud as valve amps for a given measurable output power, either. There are real physics/electronics reasons for this, including - but not only - that solid-state amps are rarely driven into power-stage distortion. (Because they usually sound crap and often blow up when they are.)

I does. I just thought it was funny coming after the confused.com .

It's a difficult subject - a lot of people really believe there are "valve watts" and "solid state watts"... there aren't, they are exactly the same. But valve amps really do sound louder!
