Default One to One lessons, is it worth it?

    Hi all.
Hopefully this is the right place for this, I'm currently teaching myself to play guitar through justinguitar.com. My question is, will it be worth getting some 1 2 1 lessons? I'm starting to get a bit bored of my existing practice schedules and routines, also the songs I'm advised to learn don't really interest me. I'm also not to sure if I have picked up any bad habits.
I have always learnt quicker by people showing me things rather than the theory side of things. It's getting to a point now where my guitar is becoming a chore
Will lessons get me out of my funk or am I destined to struggle along with questioning my ability to play? I understand that doing boring lessons is part of learning but there must be away that I can liven things up a bit. I've been playing again properly for about 4 months and due to tight finances I can only get a 1 hour lesson once a month.
    Any help is appreciated.

Sounds to me like a lesson or two might be well worth trying...

DO you know anyone else that plays that you can at least jam with? (guitar or any instrument) for me, it's playing with other musicians that is the best cure to keeping motivated and enjoying it.

Where are you? there might be a tutor or someone to jam with in a similar position that is local to you...

Yes, even if it's only a couple of lessons as you'll find out how best to learn little things, and you'll get put right on little mistakes.

The likes of Kerry King (Slayer) and Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) still take occasional lessons.......

If you have a good teacher one to one lessons are great.

Don't feel you need to have one every week though.

i think one to one lessons are goood because you can ask a question and get a answer....with online lessons its not that easy and the teacher cant really see you play unless its by skype or something..
i think iff you have a lot of questions its worthwhile...

If you're sufficiently self-motivated, a few one to one lessons may be all you need. Justin Sandercoe's site is one of the best resources on the web for learning guitar, and if you've found yourself needing more than this then it sounds to me like a couple of lessons would be valuable. If you know the direction you want to take your playing and have a pretty clear idea of what you want to be able to do with a guitar that you can't do now, then you will be well equipped to give any teacher a clear idea of how they may best help you.

    Where are you based?

I'll say this much, what I got from 1 to 1 lessons was inspiration and it opened the door to ideas I'd not considered. From that point onwards, I did as much self-teaching as I was taught by my tutor, but without him I wouldn't be even half the guitarist I am today.

It's the same as with theory, I advise anyone to at least learn just a little bit of it even if you proceed to just learn what 'makes sense' so you can ignore it and write some more interesting chord progressions.
I'm back and better than ever.

    Hi all
Thanks for the positive replys. Whilst what I have learnt from justinguitar is invaluable,I've learnt more from him than my previous teacher who was more interested in hearing himself play and trying to sell me his old stuff (he didn't last long). I just feel having a bit of human feedback and interaction may help me along the way and inspire me a bit.
There is no one in my social circle who plays any kind of instrument so having a little jam session is not possible. Also I'm a very long way from being able to jam with any other musicians (musically and confidently).
I'm based in Exeter and seem to have an abundance of teachers available so that's a bonus. I think I have found a teacher who may work out for me, he is able to give me a lesson a month at a good price. ( many teachers have said I would need weekly lessons). First lesson should hopefully be on weds and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
