    Default resonator rash

i bought this national m1 tricone back in july for my 40th and it sounds amazing.
i got it out the other night to do a little set with my pals and i noticed this weird pimply rash in the lacquer on one section of the top of the guitar and around the bottom of the side wall, around the strap button/tailpiece. there is also j shaped bit which kind of looks like the lacquer has lifted. both areas affected are not really parts that come in contact with sweaty skin and i've only cleaned it once so far with martin guitar polish
is this some kind of lacquer checking or is it resonator pox?
anyone seen anything like this before?
it's not under warranty as i bought it second hand from guitar village. but its only 2 years old anyway.
    help please.

Hmmmm....ive not seen that on a NRP before. I suggest you email the pics to Don Young at National Resophonic and see what he says. they're super helpful.

    Bloody nice guitar regardless.

Has the case been stood up on its end somewhere cold or damp?

I thought this thread was going to be about the other type of resonator rash! (Nickel allergy .)

Is there any indication that it's been resprayed?

i've emailed the pics to national and waiting to hear back from them.
its either been in its case in the bedroom or on a guitar hanger in the bedroom not near a radiator or the window, hung on an internal wall as well. when i took it out with me on saturday, it was in the van (in the case) for an hour or so and then taken into my mates house where it stayed in the case for a couple of hours before i got it out. about an hour after that is when i noticed the rash. but it could have been there before this.
re it being resprayed, i really don't think so as it was absolutely mint when i bought it. although it was 2 years old i didn't look like it had been played.
i've just got it out of the case and its all over the back of the guitar now as well.

Just thought I'd post a little update on the rash.
After a few carefully worded emails to national, my resonator is spending Christmas in California getting a full refinish despite it being secondhand and out of warranty. What a result ay! And the guitar shop have paid for shipping there and back.

They didn't want to give too much info. Just said it was a rare problem.
I did a bit of heart string pulling, laid it on thick about it being a 40th birthday present from all my family and friends which was all true anyway. I must admit I did punch the air when they said yes.

pretty slick man! fair play to them as well.

If it's a rare problem at least it's one they have encountered before.. so hopefully one they can avoid when respraying it.

Yeh good lads. I might have to send them a crate of good English beer as a thank you. See if they prefer it to that American piss!
