Laptop with Skype account for keeping in touch, swiss army knife or leatherman, extra thick socks, silly warm hat and thick jacket for standing by the bus when it breaks down on the autobahn. Teabags and coffee and acoustic isolating headphones/earplugs for sleeping

    Duck tape.

DI box (MXR or Sansamp) for when your amp craps out. I'd suggest your 2nd bass is passive too. Less to go wrong.

    and a compressor pedal.

Even if you don't usually use one - if you are forced to use a locally supplied crappy bass amp a good compressor can really help.

    Don't need valves.

Second bass is passive, got a DI box amp modeller, and the chances of the backline being crap are very slim to none I still plan on using my Markbass though.

Picks, spare mic stands, somewhere safe for your passport/credit cards/driving license/insurance details on your personage particularly if you're in a dodgy hotel with no room safe, breakdown cover, gloves for loading in/out if its freezing, mosquito spray if its boiling, wellies if its festivals! And most importantly of all........IMMODIUM!!!!!

If it's the kind of tour I hope it is given how well your band are doing , the supplied backline will probably be an SVT so you don't need your own valves, to worry about it or to shift the damn thing . Have you tried your Mark through an Ampeg tower block yet? (Just curious...)

If the supplied amps are Ashdowns, definitely use your Mark. They double-up Ashdowns on stage for a reason .

Assume that you will lose your wallet. Have at least one back-up credit card and a stash of cash that you can keep separate.

Unless your phone's got a good one, then don't forget to take a camera - plus charger and some memory cards. I'm sure you'll want to take lots of photos.

The tour is a euro arena tour supporting Brad Paisley and The Band Perry We're playing the o2 in Dublin if anyone's around on Nov 12th.
