Been reading up all night and checking out YouTube videos showing comparisons too. Starting to get a bit of brain melt !! lol

The videos have given me a bit more of an idea of what i may be after, or as much as i can be listening to A/B comparisons on laptop speakers. I certainly find myself leaning toward the sound of something like the CL80 as opposed to the V30s...i much prefer the 'crisper' sound of them to the almost 'dull' V30....i guess i never really understood just how much of a difference there is between different speakers !! I can see how they would work well together though, so will most probably give the V30/CL80 combination a go, and see how i get on with it.

Any recommendations where to buy new if i cant find one s/h ?

yeah, basically those a/b comparisons only work if you know the sound of one speaker already, then u can compare how the two sound against each other. easiest way is to do a bit of s/h trading.

there's a good rivera vid on youtube where they play the exact same thing at the exact same settings through a bunch of different speakers. As parker_knoll says, it lets you know more if you've already tried the speakers in question, but it's better than nothing, i think.

yep, that's a good vid, except all the sounds are heavily distorted. helps to hear clean as well IMO.

There's actually two Rivera vids, one for alnico, one for ceramic if i remember
