Default Is There A Sort Of PRS For Non-Writing Musicians?

By which I mean an organisation (in the UK) that the other members of my band can join that will ensure that they receive some sort of financial compensation for their efforts; without having to rely on the largesse of the venue or the promoter?

    Thanks

Errr. The Musician's Union? They will help members to secure payments due to them.

But the MU aren't going to pay people directly just for performing. If you are talking about pub and club gigs, then you'll still only get paid what you negociate with the proprieters. Joining the MU and then insiting on MU rates for playing the Dog and Duck will get you shown the door very sharply. The MU still isn't really geared for the non-fulltime musician.

It's PPL that does that. www.ppluk.com . They collect and distribute payments on behalf of people who have recorded performances.
