    Default 5E3 recommendadtions

I've just watched the demo of a 5E3 by Greg V and have a serious attack of gas.....damn it!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k-xwCfcYXo

Never get tired of listening to Greg's playing

So are there any 5E3's in the UK that are available and sound like this?.......That I won't have to sell a kidney to afford?

There are plenty of amp makers in the UK making either copies of 5E3s or variations on this circuit.

Of the top of my head:

    Flynn Amps
    Seeley Amplification
    Gartone Amps
    Lazy J
    Rosewell Amps
    Gartone Amps
    Wienbrock Amps

I've only played through amps made by Lazy J and Wienbrock, so can't express an opinion about which of these is the "best" or "most authentic".

    Blimey that was quick!

Thanks for the list, I'll check out their info. I'm guessing you like Gartone...

How about your amps? I see you list a 'Sir Charles 15'....looks interesting. How does this compare to the 5E3?

Never played through one actually. Someone I know rates them highly though.

Our SC15 is a completely different circuit from the 5E3, and has more clean headroom. There are some sound samples on our web-site.

Incredible demo, isn't it, I've watched it a few times - I love the tele one too!

I can't add to jpfamps' list, I'm afraid. Bear in mind that the Crema Wheat uses a Greenback style Scumback speaker, which, as far as I know, isn't common for a 5e3 style circuit. Sounds bloody good though!

Thanks, had a listen. Great sounds but a bit too clean for me.

@ gibbs, agreed the Tele clip is equally fantastic.

That's interesting about the Greenback....I would have expected that to sound more harsh. Dunno why but I thought the speaker would've been an Alnico of some kind.

5E3 completely rules! I am fortunate enough to have a Lazy J20H and a Victoria 20112 - the Lazy J is without doubt the best amp I have ever owned (mine has reverb and VAC and a Tayden Ace 25 speaker) - the tone is exactly what I wanted, straight out of the proverbial box.

The Victoria is the same tonal family, breaks up much earlier (my Lazy J being specifically built not to) and has a Jensen Alnico speaker - awesome racket when required. I need to find a reverb solution (probably Strymont Flint).

I've played a Fender 57 Deluxe reissue (good but not the same 3D feel to the sound).

I'm afraid these are all up in the kidney area of the market though.

There are various kit manufacturers offering this circuit too...

Could you maybe post the names of any of these kit manufacturers, please? Thanks.
