I bought a Yamaha THR10 Amp at the same time. As happens, I wasn't intending to buy anything, but the prices at the Show were very good.
Ha! I ambled past a feller at the London acoustic guitar show who was buying a silent guitar and the THR. We've met (almost)

Those THRs were priced VERY keenly on the day, as were many of the guitars (esp on the Yammie stand). But I was on a promise not to spend. I was so pissed off when the electric show was canned - I was getting really excited about some equally tasty discounts....
Somewhere, somehow, somebody must've kicked you around some

I had one of these a few years ago when they first arrived, it was the 100s, it £299.00 brand new then. I only sold to upgrade to something else, but I Wish I had kept it now, it was one of the best guitars I ever had, and ideal for practising while Mrs MM was watching Corrie ( or something of that ilk) or still in bed, also very light and comfortable, What can I say? I made a mistake parting with it, may get another one day , if I see a good used one going cheap.
I doubt, therefore I might be!

    Thanks for the replies

    Has/does anyone gig with one?

I play in a couple of covers bands so having an acoustic option for a few songs would be great.

I've owned one of these (SG100S) for years (it must be 10 years at least). They are very playable and have a very quacky piezo sound - perfectly useable in a live situation. The little spikes that mount the top frame tend to loosen and make the whole thing a bit wobbly from time to time but it is relatively straightforward to sort this out each time.

One thing that is worth bearing in mind (and I see this as a positive point but you might not), is that they don't have a body for the strings to drive - this excess energy expresses itself as sustain - they tend to souynd acoustic but with a more electric shape to the note.

On the whole, excellent product, very reliable and durable. I keep thinking about a nylon string one.

I saw Lee Ritenour using one live a year or so ago. Sounded pretty good to me.

Had a Steel one for many years - I used it as my travel guitar.

Had to work a bit with the nut & bridge, but got a great action in the end. They are excellent, as long as you don't use Reverb2 (the only one that sounds good) - that is a real battery eater.

Only sold it (very reluctantly) to go smaller with a Steinberger.

I ended up taking a punt on the Skylark MK11 Skeleton http://www.skylarkguitars.com/skylar...-Acoustic.html

As much as I was tempted by the twin neck, my still only semi healed broken left shoulder persuaded me to give it a miss, and to give credit to Steve at Skylark, he thought I'd done the right thing when I mentioned I was considering the twin neck. All being well it'll be here tomorrow and I'll report back with my initial thoughts then.

I'd be a liar if I said first impressions weren't mainly of disappointment, it looks *cheap and plasticky* tbh, and is in need of a setup. This mainly means a fret dress, which I'd normally do myself but these frets are so low profile there's little room for error so I'll ask my tech to have a look.

As it's basically a electric guitar but with bronze wound strings and undersaddle pup, I was hoping for a lower action than you normally get on acoustics, but this has the same sort of string height. Not unplayably high by any means, but higher than I like. I'm not totally convinced by the tuners either, at least for the B string, there's a little too much movement before any *action* happens. Having said that, once tuned it's stayed that way.

The sound isn't bad, being fairly convincing electro-acoustic as claimed, especially with the treble turned up on the tone control and even more so when used with a judicious amount of reverb, in my case vst fx.

Not the worst guitar I've bought from Skylark, but not the best either. The more I use it the better it gets and while I wouldn't say don't buy, people shouldn't expect perfection if they do.
