I always preferred kahlers, they made more sense to me when palm muting and chugging. I love trem systems, bigsbys, 2 points and locking. And the rest I think locking trems get hate because people don't use them in a musical way. With non locking systems, you are forced to be more careful.

On the other hand, if I wanted a shreddy guitar, I'd find something with a kahler. Locking trems can do things that no other can.

In conclusion to this essay... It takes all sorts! Guitarists are funny folk. Fashion, looks and brands are more important than the sounds. And we are all guilty of this!

Of course they do. Unless "non-musical" to some people means "something I don't like"

Haha okay, fair point. But when it's just used on every solo as an easy ending via a divebombed harmonic, it does stop being interesting. I don't mean that the noises are 'unmusical', perhaps overused to the point of boredom is better.

Like all guitar related things, it will come back into fashion and everyone will be flogging gretsch and Gibson cheap to fund the next widdle stick. I remember when jaguars were cheap...

I quite like floyds but I don't need one.

With the Super Vee on my strat I can't make it go out of tune. I appreciate there are a few things it can't do, but it's far less fiddly and easier to use different tunings etc.

Im not a big Floyd Rose fan these days. I dont think they're hard to set up or keep in tune, im just a heavy, ham fisted bugger. I tend to bounce my hand when palm muting rhythm which sometimes makes it sound out of tune with the bridge movement, and i much prefer the feel of a TOM bridge for accurate palm muting....just preference really.

I have an Ibanez JS1 as per my sig, and I must say on first purchase and after a complete strip Dow it took me nearly a week to get it pitch perfect, however I must say once set up and you will learn on the way they (well mine) stay in tune.

That I do agree with. The odd cowabunga dive-bomb is alright but it can be overdone. Vai uses his to great effect, IMO.

I found that I just couldn't be arsed to get the Allen keys out, so when I snapped a string on my floyd equiped guitar, it didn't get played for about 6 months...

I bought one of these but haven't attached it yet. I have heard of people using pedalboard velcro to attach it, as it is strong enough but doesn't leave a permanent modification to the guitar like drilling a screw would. The reason I haven't attached mine yet is I haven't bought the spare allen keys to leave attached to it. I have just ordered a cheap set off Ebay and will attach the holder when they get here.

The allen keys are a pain. Also the new OEM ping floyds are nowhere near as well made as say an Ibanez Edge ( Ive got both). I suppose in the UK its seen as a "Metal" thing.

Also in the UK theres a cultural hatred of technical guitar playing anyway, you wouldnt see a Cellist or Pianist with ability so disregarded.
