Busy Xmas Gigging Season
I usually gig once or twice a month, but looking at the calender I've got 7 gigs booked between now and new year...I think it's time to put a fresh set of strings on my Tele!
Anyone else out there entertaining the drunken masses for the festive season?
I've actually got the opposite scenario!
I'm normally gigging every week, but November this year is rubbish for gigs.
December this year is a funny one for me and the band in that THEY are gigging loads but I'm not!
See, we've been offered a residency at a hotel in Watford. Something like 10 gigs in 14 days.
Great stuff but..I work full time and have used up all my time off for the year (plus all my goodwill for leaving a "bit" early for gigs!) so there's no chance of me doing most of the gigs....Hence a dep is picking up £1700 or so for gigs that I can't do!
Gutted about it in some ways but there's not a lot I can do about it, plus in truth I'm really happy to finally get some weekends with my lovely woman and my young daughter.
Still...nearly £2K down pre-Christmas.......Aaaaaarggggh!
We seem to be the opposite that we play less closer to christmas.
Really annoys the hell out of me, but not a lot I can do about it.
The band all have work or family commitments, and lately we have had people off for surgery and good will gestures out in Africa.
Seems a shame the one time you can make money, is the one time we don`t !
