And let's hope I meet with more success than the central bloody heating.

Finally got round to doing it. Ended up machining a piece of bronze to fit inbetween the two spring seats as a packing piece. Bit of a pain, as they didn't line up, though God knows why, it's like they were meant to be that way. I need to find a brass button or round head M6 screw to go in the top, as it's got a hex-head bot in there at the moment. Still, I like the result, and find it much easier to play without the arm in the way. I actually like the look of the Bigsby as a tailpiece, it looks kind of Heath Robinson, but in a nice way.

Ended up with an M6 furniture screw to make it look as neat as possible. I'm not entirely happy with the looks, but I'm so much more happy with the arm removed. I might even start having a play with it.

And a couple of pics which I finally got around to taking:

Never mind that, have you fixed the heating yet?

I've been missing the daily updates on how your scale model of the cooling system at Fukushima is amusing your wife.

    Ah, yes the heating saga.

Well, it's not all good news, although the heating is working at the moment, the obscure top-up bottle valve is still passing minute quantities of water into the bottle itself. This means that after about a week, I have to empty some out of it. And of course the system pressure is gradually falling as a result.

Mrs C has slapped an embargo on any further dalliances with the system until the weather improves, but there's been no more Poseidon Adventure-type occurrences flooding the kitchen, my stock has improved as a result. The top floor heating failed last week, but started working again mysteriously after I replaced a synchronous motor on the same circuit, but the one I removed tested out OK, so I can only imagine that the system's been possessed by demons or something.

I've also been banned from fitting a radiator to the conservatory this side of next summer, for obvious reasons.
