Well said mate. Ultimately its about the music and we should never lose sight of that. However, it's about having fun and these arrogant PR*CKS can really take the fun out of it and create unnecessary tension. We choose to play because we love it...We don't choose to be abused!

For me it's been largely about the audience ... the thing that really made me want to play in the first place was watching the audience at the first gig I ever went to. I wanted to make people that happy and excited. To be able to make people happy and get paid for it was my goal in learning the guitar ... and perhaps to feel that I was doing a job competently. Now I spend my time enabling others to do the same by making pickups ... same difference ... it makes people happy. The reason we are often okay to play covers in a band is because their familiarity brightens up peoples lives ... the problem comes when musicians start to think an audience cares about them than the 'good time' they hopefully deliver!
Believing your own hype is ultimately any muso's downfall ... great or humble.

I put my hand up. Ive been arsy and egotistical when i should be old enough to know better. been brought down to earth with a bump when fired from my band a few months ago. felt very bitter but looking at it i see their point and i wish them success. meanwhile i hope ive learned my lesson and have been welcomed into another band which are doing well. It has been a learning experience for me as it is something one hears about all the time but never thinks they themselves are the culprit. Ultimately i enjoy playing music for others peoples enjoyment, they dont care if im the fastest, slickest guitarist or not. Im not out to prove anything anymore, just have fun.
