    How very weird. Since they're just the "industrial" version of a Duracell... same technology, it's not as if there should be a voltage difference.

    I did have a bad batch of Panasonics a while back - they metered OK unloaded, but dropped right down under any sort of load and sounded terrible in anything that was remotely voltage-sensitive. And lasted about five minutes even when they seemed to work OK.

    Are you absolutely certain it's not something coincidental? ie try it with the pedal alone straight into the amp and A/B several times between the "good" battery and the "bad" one (assuming you haven't already binned it).

    I binned it!

    I have spoken to the eBay seller I bought it off and they are surprised to hear of the issues. They sent me a very lengthy reply about regulated supplies and getting enough power. Figures that it might be my crappy power bank? It wouldn't run my dd20.

    Well it's working now - that's the main thing but I hate having a battery in my board - just means I have to always remember to unplug that pedal every time
