Yes, the BOSS will support one phantom powered condenser mic and you can have another dynamic recording at the same time. Positioning of the mic is critical in getting the right sound. Don't point it at the soundhole as it gets very boomy. A good place to start is pointing it at the body/neck join area, between 1 and 2 feet away. Ideally you'd listen back on headphones whilst someone else moved the mic around for you to pock the best spot. For two mics, one pointing at the back of the body and one mid way up the neck can work well. Or the 'over the shoulder' mic position is favoured by some, so that you get a sound very similar to the sound that you hear. If the floor is carpeted and you feel the sound is dull, try putting a sheet of hardboard or plywood down on the floor by your feet. Supposed to increase the amount of high frequency reflections in the room ambience the mic picks up.

Many thanks for the reply folks

I tried last night recording with my Sennheiser mic and it sounded pretty good, I set the mic up (I already have a stand BTW) half way between the guitar hole and where I was sat. I played and sang at the same time. I think If I got another mic (condensing one) for the guitar it would sound even better, but am not 100% sure if I can do that with my BOSS, I think I can as it has 8 channels and 4 3 pin mic sockets at the back

Try positioning the mic about 12 inches from the 12th fret as the air moving from the soundhole colours the sound (People do this live as it is louder, then EQ out the boomyness, but for recording it should not be an issue. The Boss should also have some dynamic controls (compressors). They are worth using as they compensate for moving guitars ect. Some people also mic behind the bridge for recording or over the shoulder.

This was (badly) recorded by me using a Rhode NT1a and a Sure SM81. (The NT1a is the lead on the second guitar). http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=3480724
