Default For BHR and others who think 24 frets just ain't enough

BHR - I remember reading on a thread a little while ago that you are after an EC29. Well this is currently on EBay in the US, but with worldwide shipping

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...ectorid=229466

Not an EC29, but its even rarer and even less practical brother the EC36. Looks in decent condition. When he first listed it he wanted $2,500 which with shipping costs made it just too expensive. Now he has brought the price down it is still expensive but not stupidly so (still a lot of cash though!).

I am trying to avoid buying it myself (as it is still overpriced) as a friend for the EC29 I bought earlier this year, so by drawing it to everyone's attention, I hope it is snapped up before I give in to temptation.

By the way, if anyone ever has, or knows of an EC36 for sale in the UK, remember to mention it to me!

Those crackle finishes on the old Washburns are comically horrible

That's such a cool guitar, but it does cost way too much. I still think I prefer the EC29 though, just because it has that extra single coil for a teensy bit more versatility. I suspect 36 frets really is too much, 29 would be awesome though.

The neck heel is truly awesome.

In an ideal world, I'd have a custom-made neck-thru EC29 replica (perhaps a Ran or something) entirely natural-finished with a mahogany body, maple/walnut neck-thru, a one-piece mahogany top and a fixed bridge. And a Sustainer, obviously. And two kill switches. Tasteful but mad.

My name is Connor and I have a GAS problem.

I also have some videos of myself playing guitar. Here they are.

    You're half right Connor. :-)

    Way overpriced and hideous imho.

I almost bought an EC36 when they first came out, but sense prevailed. After about fret 26, it basically became fretless. Didn't feel that nice to play either.

Nowhere near as bad as the black with red binding and other plastic parts that was fashionable for about ten seconds some time in the early to mid 80s (I forget which year, thankfully). I had one of those, that I got very cheap and ended up stripping and re-shaping the body to get rid of it. I eventually turned it into an art project - I carved the body into hot rod flames with a large drill press and a bandsaw .

I *almost* like the crackle finishes - the multi-colour ones especially - for being totally iconic of their time, but I wouldn't ever own one.

That's probably it. I've not tried one, but I'm pretty interested in the Ibanez RG2011SCBK, which is still available and looks like it might play and sound at least OK.

Foul guitars, I tried a few back in the 80s and they were horrible. In fact the only Washburn I have ever liked and owned was a Falcon.

I've owned other Washburns N4s etc

    But these thongs were hideous!

For me, it's a real worry. I spend enough time on the wrong note on my 22 fret guitars, I shudder to think what would happen if I were to be let loose on another 14 frets...
