    Don Felder.

Page was still cooler though .

Notice that Felder's one seems to be modified with stereo outputs...

Seperate outputs for each neck (so he could use different amps) rather than 'stereo' which implies two different sounds from the same neck.

Interesting detail in the first film: custom shop guitars retail for double the dealer price.

I knew exactly what you meant, but why pass up a top class chance to be pedantic!

either one could have been done neater with a stereo jack socket & cable.

either a y-splitter cable, or as I am doing with my doubleneck a normal stereo cable into a pedal that splits it - mainly because i don't like y-splitter cables

But having a common earth can obviously cause ground loops when using two different amps. So you then need to feed at least one signal via an isolating transformer. Two outputs were probably safer to use in a touring situation (as long as the grounds weren't connected within the guitar - which they probably were but there's a small chance they were isolated)

I would expect they were isolated - there's no good reason to use separate jacks otherwise, and two cables makes moving about on stage more awkward.

Essentially what you would have is two completely separate guitars electrically, sharing the same woodwork.

I split my Rickenbacker into stereo using a typical Rick-type cable/box arrangement, but I'm about to acquire another guitar that has a mono high-impedance output and a balanced 1/4" TRS low-impedance output, so that will also require two cables. A faff, but worth it for the sound.
